I'm quite tall and couldn't get a WSD bike to fit properly, so I ended up on a Specialized Allez as my first road bike. Having said that, my MTB is a women's bike and it fits nicely! So I suppose as Frances has said, go try a few

I ride a Specialized Dolce 27. I really like it. Its comfortable to ride on long distances. I would go for a full carbon bike tho if I had your budget. Its good to go and sit on a few, and get it adjusted just for you.

Following an accident 18 months ago it appears that I'm going to be able to buy a bike with the compensation in the region of £1500, maybe more. So ladies, what are you riding? Have you got any buying tips or recommendations? I have Robert's Cycles just round the corner from me and am quite tempted to spend more....
