Am also planning a trip to see the Tour in 2013. Not been before but was planning to go to Boulogne this year but missed it (curses!). Want to see a bunch sprint finish & a mountain stage and do a bit of cycling in between plus cafes, sunshine....

Cheers Rad - sounds great. I'd be planning on taking my Dawes Audax, loaded up with camping gear. Just realised a slight flaw in my glorious plan - and that's I need to be back for the British Grand Prix 6/7/8th July! That's going to be cutting things pretty tight to catch the early stages... trying to work out if this can be done....

We've been to the Tour 7 times since 2002 and can heartedly recommend it! We always take a bit bigger bite than I think you want, in that we throw the bikes on top of the car and head to the mountains for a week. I've put up a lot on my blog (at bit.ly/bYzKon) and have some clips (bit.ly/jaimNu) if you want to look. The whole camping in France, soaking up the atmosphere of the country, country life, getting the bike out every so often, and the fantastic joy of watching the Tour come past is quite brilliant! Good luck!

Orchies - Boulonge sue Mer would seem like a good one to go for, being close to the north coast.

I have an idea, it's only a vague idea at the moment... I keep promising myself to see a stage or two of the Tour De France one year. So I'm thinking cycle down to some ferry port, ferry across the channel, cycle to catch a stage of le Tour. Carrying camping gear, or B&B along the way. That's as detailed as I've got, but anyone interested??
