Hi Brian I'm assuming this on the fact that you have a fairly good level of fitness My advice is to concentrate on doing the longer distance rides. If you are only used to 10-15 mile rides, although flat out, a 75 mile ride will be really, really tough work. Don't try too many miles too soon Generally if you start adding a few more miles (maybe 8-10 ) extra a week to your normal longer weekend rides, your endurance will gradually increase & the longer rides you are planning will be achievable. Make sure you stay fed & hydrated on the longer rides too. Good luck. I hope you raise lots for your charities & don't forget to HAVE FUN!!

i am doing a few long distant events this year sportives of 75 > 145 miles can anybody comment on a pre event routine is 10>15 mid week flat out bursts any good or should i be concentrating on 35 milers . I am ok about using padded shorts n gloves kit n bike no probs just what should anybody be doing training wise your advice would help a great deal as most of the events are in aid of charities . THANK YOU
