PRESS RELEASE 10-03- 2012 Local Chef rides from London to Paris for children’s charity Gary Clarke from Pontyclun is getting ready to cycle more than 300 miles from London to Paris this summer to raise vital funds for children’s charity Action Medical Research. The 40-year-old Jamie Oliver Academy Manager for senior chefs will join a group of cyclists for the four-day charity ride in July (18-22). He will spend around eight hours a day in the saddle, travelling an average of 80 miles each day, and will arrive in the French capital the afternoon before the finale of the famous Tour de France bike race. Gary said: “I’m taking part in the London to Paris ride because charity begins at home, so I’m swapping my home for 4 hard days in the saddle to continue the support towards helping young sick children, it’s the least I can do”. Cyclists participating in the London to Paris ride will be raising money to help fund medical research into conditions affecting babies and children. Action Medical Research is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2012 and has been funding medical breakthroughs since it began in 1952. The charity is currently supporting work around meningitis, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, premature birth and some very rare conditions that severely affect children. Anyone interested in taking part in the London to Paris ride can find out more by visiting www.action.org.uk/r24 or calling 01403 327442.
