I am unable to store my bike at home. I keep in in a Council secure bike area covered by CCTV (the bike is fully secured) but my home insurance won't insure it. Having contact 5 other insurance companies they won't insure at home (as it is considered abandoned/permanently away from home). Can anyone advise me who I go about getting insurance for my bike. Many thanks

Thanks Paul. Well I've got a value for bikes on my house insurance which covers outside the house as well. I was knocked off in jan, hit and run, but on my old bike. Guess I'm just after any other insurance I should think about other than on home

check out your household contents insurance they should cover in event of theft, most will have an upper limit but offer specialist cover. We have 3rd party liability cover with CTC. One would need to weigh up the cost of their bike against premiums for accidental damage.

Is it insurance for theft or damage or liability insurance you are looking at? Most household insurers , M&S for example will insure your bike as part of that for a small fee. As for liability, join the CTC & you get 3rd party cover as part of membership.& you can get loss insurance from them too ctc.org.uk
