tbh everyone should just use strava and a mobile phone. find people who ride the same areas as you from segment times or join one of the clubs on there. this site is stuck in 1998 with it's design which is likely why noone uses it

Well there's a lot more action over here https://www.goskyride.com/SCG/Buddies Just the same type of site as this one, but people use it ;o) Having sent 10 yes 10 messages / buddy requests to folks within 1 mile of me and not having a single reply, I think it's time to wish you all a safe ride and goodby

Well I've just joined thinking what an excellent idea for cyclists, unfortunately there seams to be very little activity here. I think I'll send a message out to all the members within 5 miles of me to see if we can arrange a group gathering one Sunday morning, maybe worth a shot !

Have to agree this site is totally ineffective. No replies and I am not sure why it even got the air time on National TV. Complete and untter waste of time

In all honesty Dave, i sent two buddy requests and two emails, not sure if either were received so it's makes it hard to gauge if they are active on the website, hopefully going forward i will get a reply!

I only joined the other day. added two people but no reply to email, and the add buddy just sits perma loading, this website seems to have plenty of bugs which defeat the object of joining it.. which i a shame as there are plenty of people loving close by that could make great cycling friends/ even one who i might well be able to commute with.

This site is not working for me, sent messages but no reply. Why put yourself on a site called cycling buddy and not get in touch with people. Also the whole not putting bacic info on profile eg where you are from and what type of cycling you do (there are more than 2 different types by the way) not a happy buddy!

Hi Folks, My initial problem was I couldn't view the people's profile who had requested me as a buddy until I had accepted. I haven't had anymore requests but I don't frequent here much as in my area its prodominately Males and I was looking for Female company to go riding out with. However I'm not sure if things have changed on the matter of being able to view potential buddies profiles? Being a woman I want to make sure I'm not leaving myself in a vulnerable situation by just arranging to meet any tom, dick or harry for company on a cycle ride. I still think people are not putting enough information on the viewable side of the profile. Just being able to see a name and when you've signed up for a buddy with no further info doesn't make me want to request you as a Cycling Buddy I'm afraid!

Hi guys, ive been on here since early March and the way I see the issue regarding gaining a buddy list, is to put yourself out there and request buddys rather than waiting for people to request you. Ive been out on quite a few rides with buddys met from this site including two regular guys who live within a couple of miles from me. Also the main search bar allows you to enter your postcode, area or place name to see if anyone is located near you so I would imagine this works better if you live in a larger town or city so the main percentage of people that actually put their location outnumbers those who dont.

Hi everyone only joined the other day and on looking at the forum I think it needs quite a bit of work there doesn't seem to be much structure to it, it needs splitting into different sections like buying advice, new to cycling and so on if you look at bikeradars forum you will see what I mean.

Good call ... I guess there are others such as CX etc too .... Hopefully the little niggles will get resolved as I think the site is a great idea!

Nigel I agree, but the site still in its infancy & these bugs etc will (I REALLY HOPE) be sorted out soon. Just like my gripe is that the fact that someone can register without giving their location & it defeats the purpose of the site. The road/MTB bit was only just added so maybe they are working on it ;) The truth is that there are actually more than just roadies (that's a shame) and MTB'ers, so it does only actually classify cyclists into 2 not entirely accurate groups, but that's just my observation

Hi folks. Am I missing something - when going in to a profile, it does not clearly state if someone is a roadie, or MTB (or both). I think this would be useful so as to know if contacting someone is worth while for the type of riding they like to do! Maybe there could be a section for what bike they ride too .... as most cyclists i have met are interested in that sort of info about cyclists they meet ... Nig

This non-location thing is becoming more common and totally goes against what I thought this site was for? Can a site admin look into the matter that people are joining but not entering their location. If people sign up without a valid location they shouldn't be able to join. The idea is to join up & meet other people to cycle with near their location, but because of some flaw in the signup, they don't have to. As far as I can see it goes against the whole idea of the site. We have people here that can view members that have legitimatly signed up without having the decency or honesty to do the same. What are their motives? I looked forward to becoming an active member of the site, contributing when & how I could, but this matter has made me have doubts as to whether I should bother

Yep David, I thought that was the whole point of this website too...finding cycling buddies in your locale. Not adding the area where you live sort of defeats the whole purpose of signing up in the first place methinks

hi, yes i have seen this on many users profiles. i think it is because the user has opted not to give it. they just haven't filled out the details on there profile. how do they expect to find any local cycling buddies ?

So far I've recieved no buddy requests, but this is okay. I check in most every day & I see new members that have joined. I click on their profile to see if they are local to me but there location just isn't there. Has anyone else noticed this or is my PC throwing a wobbly?

Thanks guys I was begining to think I was a minority! I think in this day and age you have to be internet aware not everyone is honest and truthfull about who they are. I suppose even if you could see the full profile you still can't be 100% sure about the person. This is why I would like to see a thread on introductions and general cycling banter. From that you can generally read between the lines if someone is almost genuiune.

I,ve not had a lot of requests, but i agree with Denise, you have to accept before you can find out about the person who has sent the request, i suppose it will take time for the site to run smoothly and i expect more comments about different problems, but all in all it is a great site

I get your point Denise. There would be something to be said for showing one's full profile when proactively making a 'buddy request'. That would make sense. Obviously the request sender shouldn't see the recipients details until s/he has accepted (or if s/he has his/her account set to show publicly) but it makes sense to be able to see more about the person sending you a request. I second your motion (not that there actually was a motion as such). Of course, I've had/sent the grand total of no buddy requests (nobody here lives near me) so far so none it applies to me much.

Ok new to CB, I've had two buddy requests. I understand everything is new here but I was wondering why can't I see buddy requests full profile before accepting? I clicked on the name of the person's but the link didn't do anything, it was only after I accepted their request was I able to view their profile. also would it be a good idea to have a welcome mat for folk to just say hi when they sign up and introduce themselves? or an area for like minded chat?
